An Announcement

Hey, guys. It's Thatchos. You might know me as the author of this blog, among other things.

I'm sorry that I haven't gotten a post out since two weeks ago. I know you guys might be concerned and confuzzled a little bit.

But there is a reason.

We'll get to that later.

You know, this might be an out-of-the-blue thought, but . . . it's interesting how much the time has flown since I started this blog.

If you don't know my story, then I guess now's the time to tell it. So, here we go:

I got my start in the Blogger community commenting on blogs about the SiriusXM Hits 1 Weekend Countdown.

Each week I would post reviews, predictions, etc. And I wasn't the only one.

Many other users did the same thing. But for a while, they had something that I didn't. A blog.

They would either post the countdown or make their own. That's right. Make their own.

Some people would post their own Top 45 charts. I ended up reading those each week, just like the Weekend Countdown.

Later I looked at those blogs and thought, "You know, it would be cool if I did something like that."

And so I did.

Thirty weeks ago I sat down with a laptop in one hand and a sheet of loose leaf paper on the other.

On the sheet of paper I had written down a list. A list of thirty songs.

With the laptop I was going to make that list into a blog post. I would not only type the list (backwards) but add pictures of the single covers.

I had a specific method of how I would make each chart. It would make a little something like this:

  • The "airplay week" would go from Friday to Thursday.
  • I would make the chart on a Friday.
  • I would try to get the post out by Saturday.

It's a nice little cycle like that. :)

I called it "the Continental Chart." It had a nice ring to it.

I thought it was fun. So, the next week, I did it again.

And then I did it again the next week. And the next. And the next.

One of the things that kept me going was your support. From post #1 you guys commented with reviews, recommendations, jokes, etc. That felt amazing.

As time went on, so did the charts. Week after week I would write each chart on a Friday, and try to make the post on a Saturday.

Chart after chart after chart, it's gone on for thirty weeks.

There have been thirty charts, fifteen #1's, and 114 songs.
(Not to mention 13 Breakout Hits that to date haven't debuted the chart.)
There have also been thirty-two posts (counting this) and at the time of this writing 9,107 page views (!!!).

(Yes, I counted.)

Without a doubt it's been hard work, but it's been fun making these charts for you guys.

But after thirty weeks, I have an announcement to make:

I have decided to put the Continental Chart and my Blogger account on an indefinite hiatus.

Why, you might ask? Well, my life has become busy. Very busy.

I have loads of schoolwork, I'm in a regularly performing band with my brother, and other things - it's just become too much to handle.

I also feel like I need to set my priorities straight. I have at times asked myself, "Is this all really worth it? Or is it all just a waste of time?"

And, to be honest, I feel like I've been spending too much time in front of a screen and checking the charts every day. That's why I made this decision.

I'm not saying that I'm completely abandoning this chart, but I don't see coming back to it in the near future.

I might pop around and check here from time to time, but for now, I will not be a regular Blogger user.

So, with that being said . . .

I would like to thank you guys.

I actually might've quit a long time ago, but you guys's support kept me going with this for so long.

Thank you all for being so supportive of this blog over these past thirty weeks. If you're reading this and you've been reading this from the beginning…

then you get a ShoutOut. :)

I would like to leave you all with some words of wisdom, but I'm not one of good words (as you can probably tell).
So I'll just let this song say it all.

It's one of my favorites, and to be honest I think it should be one of yours too.

And even if you don't like the song, just try and listen past the song and listen to the words and what it really means.

Here it is:

"I won't say goodbye. I'll just say . . . until we meet again. To God be the glory." - Oprah Winfrey

Thank you all again for everything.

  4. Although I'm upset about this chart being put on hiatus, I completely understand why you're doing this and I thoroughly support your decision. It's good to set your priorities straight, even if it means not having time to post.

I'm just going to say that you shouldn't feel bad or anything when you can't post. You appear to be really busy and we all understand that. School and even other stuff in our personal lives I believe should be put first.

But one day, we do hope to hear from you again.

    - Your fellow blogger, Adrian. :)
